Micro moth!

7 January 2012
Fern lover…

This pretty little micro moth is a Psychoides filicivora. You can read more about them here – http://www.norfolkmoths.co.uk/micros.php?bf=2000

It is rare, being first identified in Ireland in 1907. It was outside on a very mild 31st of December 2011, but it seems they are more often found indoors on potted ferns on which the caterpillars feed. There is a fern right next to where I photographed it but as I said, it is outside.Very pleased with myself for spotting it! It ain’t easy photographing small insects but my bridge Pentax is pretty adaptable and does not do a bad job.
