In the news – St.Paul’s Cathedral

25 October 2011

In another life I worked here…

It was funny when I heard that Canon Dr Giles Fraser had invited the anti-bank (?) protestors onto the St.Paul’s churchyard area (the cathedral owns the area when they are encamped) as I realized at the time that as a fairly trendy with-it christian he would want to side with them against mammon.  I also thought that not all the clergy would be so happy as it was fairly clear this was not going to be a flash in the pan moment but might be more along the lines of the Greenham Common or anti-Iraq War movements.  Anyway, I bet some words were exchanged in private!  My sympathies are with the cathedral staff rather than the authorities or protestors.  Why do they not camp outside the Bank of England?
