Sun sets over the open space around Kings Cross

20 October 2011

Sadly to my mind anyway, the wide open space along York Way is gradually vanishing under the same rubbish building style that appears wherever you look these days. I used to love walking along the old viaduct over the massive railway sidings, long disused, and then after the road was reconfigured to accommodate the channel tunnel rail link they put down soil & seeded the whole area with grass. I watched the weeds grow and a fascinating ecosystem started to develop with a succession of different varieties of plants dominate then be replaced by others.

Here is an interesting site about Kings Cross – http://www.visitkingscross.com/history.htm
