Philocophus – John Bulwer

12 August 2011

We have had a television company in the library today looking at some old books for a programme to come out in December.  Philocophus: or, the Deafe and dumbe mans friend, by John Bulwer, probably one of the earliest books in English to discuss educating the Deaf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bulwer

Beautiful, is it not? Note the fellow with his mouth on the viol ‘feeling’ the sound.
