Philocophus – John Bulwer

12 August 2011

We have had a television company in the library today looking at some old books for a programme to come out in December.  Philocophus: or, the Deafe and dumbe mans friend, by John Bulwer, probably one of the earliest books in English to discuss educating the Deaf.

Beautiful, is it not? Note the fellow with his mouth on the viol ‘feeling’ the sound.
